Disney Princess Half Marathon

Just picked up our shirts and numbers!
Well I survived my first half marathon. I was dressed up as Tinker Bell and Emily was Belle. My time was 2 hours and 36 minutes, I struggled with all the walkers at this half marathon. There were herds of them and as soon as you dogged and weaved through one pack you were right smack dab in the middle. Disney if you are reading this my suggestion to help future runners is to ask the question upon signing up for the race if you plan to walk or run the race and put them into corals accordingly, I know people may lie but it should help a little.  At the end my quads started locking up on me so at mile 11 I stopped and use some of the medics handy icy hot rub which helped.

5:30 am I am not happy

Over all the weekend was amazing and a perfect getaway from Aspen. We spent all day at Universal Islands of Adventure at Hogwarts and other roller coasters, then had a family dinner that night at Ken and Debbie's, Emily's Dad came to cheer her on so they were subjected to our family mayhem for the weekend. Which I am sure is overwhelming to the physiologically adjusted, but they survived.

We called the Ministry of Magic
Oh and my big mess up moment of the weekend was when we were checking into our Disney Hotel the night before the race they said, "Oh you have been upgraded to a Business Class Suite." I thought oh that should be nice and we were close to the bus. But I was preoccupied with the painting on the wall missing a foot than asking the pertinent question, "Do we still have double beds?" Ooops, well we get to the room and guess what we have a king bed for three people. Cozy is the best way to put it because we were tired and not excited to wake up the following morning at 5 am. I also forgot my number right before the bus came so I had to sprint back to our room and get it, I apparently have an issue with my numbers because that is the second time I have done that.

My next big challenge is doing a sprint triathlon, in July while I am staying in Massachusetts. A sprint is a 500 meter swim, 9 mile bike, and 3 mile run. I have started sort of training but I won't officially start until mid-April

Cheer Squad with awesome shirts! The back said "Bring on the Pixie Dust"

Winter in Aspen

Well I decided that this winter season would be my last for now in Aspen. It has been amazing the experiences and the friendships I have made will forever stay in my heart. But it is time to move on to a new destination. I have decided to move to the Cape for the summer so I can see what its like to live on the east coast for the summer. I am very excited to start this new chapter but before I begin I still have a few grand adventures left in Aspen. We are planning a hut trip and working on a ski trip to Steamboat.
I have hiked the Highlands Bowl this season and that was pretty amazing once we made it to the top. There were several times where I was sure I was going to fall backwards down the mountain. My aunt, uncle and cousins came to stay for a long weekend which was fun showing them around town and doing some of the more touristy things in Aspen like tubing and ice skating.
I am also excited to announce that Emily and I will be running the Disney Princess Half Marathon in February. We have been training for months and while my whole body hurts from the constant running I am looking forward to the race.  I considered my options for the run carefully and decided since I am not really princess material I was going to be Tinkerbell. Plus I like her because she has spunk.
